On February 28, 2025, Prince Andrew School held its annual Certificate and Awards Ceremony in the school hall. The event was attended by students, parents, and distinguished guests to honor student achievements.
Governor Nigel Phillips opened the ceremony with a welcome address before presenting certificates. Former Year 10, 11, 12, and 13 students received qualifications including GCSEs, VRQs, AS-Levels, and A-Levels.
Individual awards were given for excellence in various disciplines. Blake O’Connor received the Jean Beadon Art Award. Nate Joshua and Sadie Herne were honored with the Governor’s Award for academic excellence at Key Stage 3. Blane Bennett and Vivienne Ponsford were named PTA Students of the Year for their performances in Years 11 and 13.
Blane Bennett also won the SURE Award alongside Merstine Chiseya as top performers in Year 11. The Jeanette Williams Mathematics Achievement Award went to Blane Bennett and Jacob Williams for high math scores in Years 11 and 13. Erik Robbertse and Vivienne Ponsford earned the English Achievement Award for top English scores.
Callum Mittens was recognized with the Eliza Mary Lloyd Trust Agriculture Award for his commitment to agriculture. William Scott received the Bishop Houghton Award for community support. Leah Oyewo was honored with the Joy George Award for effort at Key Stage 3.
Student President Bobbi Clingham and Vice Student President Raylisha Piek expressed gratitude before Chief Minister Julie Thomas delivered closing remarks.
Head Teacher Phil Toal stated: “It is an immense privilege to celebrate the achievements of our students at Prince Andrew School’s Annual Certificate & Awards Presentation... Our students have demonstrated not only academic excellence but also determination in vocational and technical studies... I extend my heartfelt congratulations to every awardee...”
Toal thanked teachers, staff, parents, guests, and highlighted ongoing commitment to student potential: “Today’s achievements are just the beginning of many successes to come.”
