State House, Freetown, 7 April 2025 – President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone met with Neale Richmond, Ireland’s Minister of State for International Development and the Diaspora, who visited the country briefly.
Minister Richmond expressed his gratitude to President Bio for the meeting. He explained that the visit aimed to evaluate the work of the Irish Embassy in Sierra Leone and to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations. “It is a pleasure for me to also formally hand over Sierra Leone’s agreemo for the establishment of its embassy in Ireland,” said Minister Richmond.
President Bio warmly acknowledged Minister Richmond and emphasized the productive relationship between Sierra Leone and Ireland, highlighting cooperation in education and women's empowerment. He stated that establishing Sierra Leone’s embassy in Ireland is a step towards strengthening bilateral ties and diplomatic engagement.
President Bio reaffirmed his government’s commitment to collaborate with the Irish Government and its Sierra Leonean Embassy.
