His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio held a formal farewell ceremony on April 4, 2025, at State House, Freetown for the newly appointed Ambassadors-Designate and a Deputy Ambassador-Designate. Ambassador Amara Sowa has been designated as Sierra Leone's Ambassador to the United States of America. Dr. Mohamed Sesay is set to be the Ambassador to the French Republic, while Philip Bob Jusu will serve as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium. Madam Mamadi Gobeh-Kamara has been named Deputy Ambassador to the French Republic.
The envoys expressed their gratitude to President Bio for the opportunity and pledged to work towards strengthening bilateral relations, attracting foreign investment, and promoting Sierra Leone’s interests. President Bio, in his address, congratulated them and affirmed his full support, stating, “Sierra Leone is open for business, and I have no doubt that each of you will work diligently to strengthen our diplomatic and economic ties with your host nations.”
He also reminded them of the high expectations and encouraged them to maintain their dedication. “A lot is expected of you all, and I trust that you will serve with the same dedication and excellence that have brought you this far. I wish you all the very best in your new roles. Congratulations and good luck,” he concluded.
The formalities continued as President Bio had presided over other ceremonies earlier in the month, welcoming new government officials into office.
