His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio presided over the swearing-in ceremony for Sierra Leone's new Minister of Energy 2, Dr. Abdul Rahim Jalloh, at State House in Freetown. The event, held on April 3, 2025, was marked by the President's reaffirmation of the government's dedication to sustainable energy and efforts to expand access to electricity across the nation.
The appointment of Dr. Jalloh was unanimously approved by Parliament, as noted by Mr. John Sumaila, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, in line with constitutional provisions. Mr. Sumaila presented the appointee to President Bio, who then administered the oath of office.
Dr. Jalloh expressed gratitude to President Bio for the appointment and acknowledged the significant responsibilities of his new role. "I am deeply honored by this appointment and fully aware of the immense responsibility it carries," Dr. Jalloh stated. He committed to ensuring energy accessibility and effective distribution throughout Sierra Leone.
President Bio congratulated Dr. Jalloh and promised enduring support, encouraging him to utilize available expertise to navigate the challenges of the energy sector. "There are enormous challenges ahead, but take them on with determination. You can always count on my support," President Bio assured.
Dr. Jalloh arrives with over forty years of national and international experience in engineering and energy systems, which is anticipated to significantly enhance Sierra Leone's energy sector.
