The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), located in Praia, Cabo Verde, recently hosted the ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy, and Digitalization. This visit highlighted ECOWAS' dedication to regional energy sustainability and infrastructure development.
During his visit, ECREEE presented notable ongoing and completed projects aimed at propelling the energy transition in West Africa. These presentations included key initiatives in renewable energy, energy efficiency, desert-to-power, e-mobility, and the integration of energy with water and food resources. Discussions also focused on ECREEE’s significant role in aiding ECOWAS Member States to meet the region’s energy and climate targets.
Mr. Sediko Douka, the visiting Commissioner, praised the Centre for its commitment to sustainable energy solutions and expressed ECOWAS’ ongoing support for enhancing regional cooperation in the energy sector. Mr. Francis Sempore, Executive Director of ECREEE, emphasized the Centre’s contribution to innovation and collaboration in West Africa's energy field, aligning with ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Policies and global climate objectives.
