ECOWAS discusses peace collaboration with UK's Royal College of Defence Studies

The ECOWAS Commission, through its Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS), held discussions with a delegation from the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) on May 12, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria. The RCDS delegation visited Nigeria as part of their strategic overseas study tour.

During the meeting, both parties explored ways to strengthen peace-building collaboration and strategic alliances. They also examined frameworks that support peace-keeping efforts.

The RCDS delegation comprised 21 members and was led by Rear Admiral Steve Dainton. Mr. Bekaye Coulibaly from the Directorate of Peace-keeping and Regional Security (DPKRS) headed the ECOWAS team. He coordinated the interaction which included a presentation on ECOWAS interventions in peacekeeping and mediation. This was done on behalf of the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security.
