President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio celebrated Christmas and Boxing Day on Bonthe Island, engaging in activities that aimed to strengthen community ties and embrace the festive spirit.
On Christmas Day, the First Family joined parishioners at St. Patrick’s Church for a service filled with worship and prayer. President Bio expressed his joy in celebrating with the congregation and reiterated his commitment to supporting the Bonthe District. He was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his contributions to the Parish's development.
Later, President Bio and First Lady visited Bonthe Municipal Hospital, distributing traditional Christmas gifts to children and nurses. President Bio inaugurated a new diagnostic center as part of his dedication to enhancing healthcare facilities. They also attended the finals of the “Maada Bio Trophy” football competition at the Mini Stadium.
On Boxing Day, they participated in various activities showcasing the Island’s traditions. The events included an exhilarating Canoe Competition where they presented trophies and prizes to winners. A grand cultural festival featured chiefdom competitions alongside performances by talented artists.
