Guinea sends envoy to Sierra Leone to boost bilateral relations

State House, Freetown, December 17, 2024 – President Mamady Doumbouya of Guinea has dispatched a special envoy to Sierra Leone to strengthen bilateral relations. Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, who serves as Guinea's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Guineans Abroad, met with Sierra Leone's President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to discuss mutual interests.

Dr. Kouyaté conveyed greetings from President Doumbouya and expressed gratitude for the hospitality shown by President Bio during the visit. He also addressed the situation concerning Sierra Leoneans residing in Guinea and expressed regret over any issues faced by them.

President Bio welcomed the envoy and highlighted the close ties between the two nations, emphasizing that citizens of both countries are considered familial. He voiced concerns about how Sierra Leoneans are treated in Guinea but affirmed his commitment to addressing these challenges through constructive dialogue.

The meeting underscores ongoing efforts by both governments to enhance cooperation and resolve any bilateral issues.
