His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, has announced an increase in the subvention for the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) to Le 2.5 billion old leones for the year 2025. This announcement was made during a keynote address at the Presidential Media Cocktail held at Country Lodge Hotel in Freetown.
President Bio also highlighted ongoing efforts to implement the National Media Policy and establish the National Fund for Public Interest Media (NaFPIM-SL). These initiatives aim to further support media operations within the country.
In his speech, President Bio called on the youth of Sierra Leone to engage actively in transforming their nation. He expressed appreciation towards international partners such as the European Union (EU), United States Ambassador, and British High Commissioner for their support.
The annual Political Partnership Dialogue between Sierra Leone's government and the EU was also noted as part of these collaborative efforts.
