The President of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has made several new nominations to key government positions. These include appointments to the Board of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA), an addition to the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation Board, and various local government roles in Gbarpolu County.
For the FDA board, Philip C. Parker Jr. has been named Chairman. Other members include Isaac Grigsby and Loretta Pope Kai. Statutory members will represent institutions such as the Liberian Bank for Development and Investment, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Agriculture, and Liberia Land Authority. The Managing Director will serve as Secretary and a non-voting member.
Mohammed Barrie has been nominated as a member of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation Board.
In Gbarpolu County's local government, Sam K. Zinnah is nominated as Superintendent. Additional appointments include James Kpoto Scott as County Administrative Officer, Howard P. Bunday as County Finance Officer, Onagbah S. Mormalee as County Development Officer, and Siah Kieh Victor as City Mayor of Bopolu City.
District Commissioners have also been appointed across various districts within Gbarpolu County: Jestina Dukuly for Bopolu District; Musa D. Kamara for Gbarma District; Lawerance Sherbro for Kongba District; Milton Yarkpawolo Gertee Sr. for Gou Wolala District; John M. Belleh for Belleh District; John K. Korsee for Bokomu District; Beyan M. Yarsiah for Bella Yallah Township; Joseph T. Mulbah for Bella Fassama Township.
Statutory roles have been assigned in Bokomu Statutory District with Debbie M. Gokpolu named Statutory Superintendent and Harris F. Tanjoe Sr., Ballah S. Saywo, Harris C. Kawolo filling other key roles.
In Gbarma Statutory District, Edwin Mcgill has been appointed Statutory Superintendent with Quaye B. Varney and Melvin Marab assuming additional administrative responsibilities.
These nominations are subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate where applicable.
President Boakai emphasized that all positions must align with the Local Government Act of 2018 in terms of titles and responsibilities: "President Boakai further calls on all those nominated and appointed to continue to demonstrate diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in service to country."
