The President of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has announced a series of nominations and appointments for various government bodies. These changes affect several key institutions, including the Liberia Medical Health Regulatory Authority (LMHRA), the Liberia Institute for Public Administration (LIPA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Other organizations impacted include the National AIDS Commission, the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), and the National Port Authority (NPA).
President Boakai's nominations are subject to approval by the Liberian Senate where applicable. The list of nominees includes Dr. Luke Bawo as Managing Director of LMHRA and Dr. Patricia Quaye-Freeman as Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services.
Dr. David Sumo has been named Chairman of the Board at LMHRA, with other members representing various health-related bodies in Liberia. The Board at LIPA will be chaired by Dr. Cecelia Cassell.
For the Environmental Protection Agency Policy Council, Minister Amin Modad will serve as Chairman alongside a diverse group of statutory members from multiple ministries and organizations.
The National AIDS Commission sees Dr. Cecelia J. Nuta appointed as Chairperson with other commissioners handling specific portfolios such as policy and program decentralization.
At the National Port Authority, Mr. Siafa Hage is nominated as Co-Chair among several new board members from different sectors.
Mrs. Alexandra B. Amnon takes on a role at LBS as Deputy Director General for Public Affairs along with other deputies covering media services and technical areas.
In addition to these roles, Mr. Togar Joash Hodges becomes Commissioner at the Independent Information Commission while Ms. Lorpu P Page serves as Executive Director.
The Ministry of Health welcomes Dr. Catherine Thomas Cooper as Deputy Minister of Health Services, whereas John F. Kennedy Medical Center sees Drs Linda Birch and John Emmanuel Tamba taking leadership positions alongside Mrs Dama Yekeson Koffa in administrative roles.
These appointments replace any previously published nominations in similar agencies or positions across these entities.
President Boakai emphasized that all appointees should continue to demonstrate "diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in service to country."
