Liberian President attends World Food Forum in Rome

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of Liberia has arrived in Rome to participate in the World Food Forum, which is scheduled to commence on Monday, October 14, 2024. The Liberian delegation touched down at Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport and was greeted by Mr. Javier D. Fernandez, Head of Protocol at the Vatican, along with Liberia's Ambassador to Italy, Andrew Kronyanh, and his team. Madam Bintia Stephen Tehicaya, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative to Liberia, was also present.

President Boakai will deliver remarks during the Forum’s official opening ceremony under the theme “Good Food for All, Today and Tomorrow.” He is accompanied by several key officials including Dr. Alexander Neutah, Minister of Agriculture; Mr. Jerelinmek Piah, Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism; Ambassador Antoinette Wolo; and other staff from the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs.

The World Food Forum will gather numerous world leaders to discuss issues related to global food security and sustainability. This year’s theme focuses on "Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future," highlighting the importance of addressing food access and nutrition as part of sustainable development efforts.

Agriculture plays a significant role in President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda. His participation in this forum aims to bolster international support for agricultural development initiatives in Liberia.
