The Head of the ECOWAS Commission Lagos Liaison Office, Mr. O. Okunola, conducted official visits to the Seme–Krake Joint Border Post on June 26, 2024, and the Hilacondji Joint Border Post on June 27, 2024. These visits aimed to engage with key officers at the joint border posts and reaffirm the Commission’s support for their crucial role in economic and social integration, security, and other significant areas.
During the visits, Mr. Okunola met with the Comptroller General of the Seme–Krake border and his counterpart at the Hilacondji border. Both leaders appreciated the Liaison Officer’s visit, which provided a valuable opportunity to discuss their operational challenges.
Mr. Okunola reiterated the ECOWAS Commission’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of border operations, emphasizing the importance of the border posts in facilitating seamless trade and cooperation among ECOWAS member states. He assured the officers of the Commission’s support and commitment towards strengthening overall integration and security efforts within the region.
