In a proclamation issued on Monday, June 17, 2024, Governor Nigel Phillips CBE, acting in accordance with the advice of the Chief Minister, announced that a bye-election to fill the vacant seat on Legislative Council will take place on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The vacancy follows the resignation of Rosemary Bargo on May 31.
