Diabetes Week is scheduled from Monday, June 10 to Sunday, June 16, 2024. The Health Promotion and Community Nursing teams are focusing on raising awareness about diabetes during this period. This year's campaign theme is "Talk about the health checks you need when you have diabetes."

Diabetes Week aims to highlight the daily realities of living with diabetes and raise awareness about issues that are significant to individuals with the condition.

Regular check-ups for diabetes are essential. They help in early detection of potential problems, ensuring better management and fewer complications in the future. Regular monitoring helps keep blood sugar levels in check and allows for adjustments in treatment plans to maintain optimal health. Effective diabetes management can enable individuals to stay active and energized.

An information stall will be available at the Jamestown Community Centre from 10:00 to 13:00 on Friday, June 14, 2024. Healthcare professionals will be present to answer questions and engage with the community about diabetes and health-related concerns. Additionally, flu vaccines will be offered to diabetic individuals.

For more information, contact the Community Nurses or Health Promotion team by telephone at 22500.
