The President of the Republic of Liberia, Joseph N. Boakai, has suspended three top leaders of the Liberian Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) with immediate effect and without pay, pending an investigation. The officials affected are Director General Abraham S. Kromah, Deputy Director General for Administration Gbawou Kowou, and Deputy Director General for Operations Hassan Fadiga.

President Boakai has ordered an investigation into events that occurred at the LDEA headquarters on June 3, 2024. He stated, "the acts of disorder and chaos that took place at the headquarters of the LDEA were unacceptable." The President further emphasized that such actions threaten public peace and undermine the government's efforts to combat illicit drugs.

In the interim, Christopher Peters has been appointed as Officer in Charge (OIC) of the agency until the investigation is concluded. Peters is described as a well-trained security personnel who comes highly recommended.
