Sierra Leone's president meets Macron to strengthen bilateral ties

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris to discuss and bolster bilateral relations between the two nations.

Following their meeting, President Bio shared his impressions on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I thank Emmanuel Macron for his warm hospitality. At our momentous meeting, we committed to deepening relations between our two friendly countries and broadening cooperation and collaboration on a wide range of regional and global issues.”

President Bio is currently in France attending the Clean Cooking in Africa Summit. He expressed gratitude towards President Macron for his hospitality during their brief bilateral meeting. This interaction reflected the positive and cooperative spirit of their engagement.

The short yet productive meeting underscored both leaders' commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and working together towards shared goals. Bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and France are deeply rooted in mutual respect and a shared interest in promoting sustainable development, security, and cultural exchange. The recent meeting further solidified this relationship by highlighting several key areas of cooperation.

In other news from His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio's engagements abroad, he addressed the Clean Cooking in Africa Summit at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on Tuesday, May 14th. On Monday, May 13th, he formally opened a four-day conference of the Economic Community of West African States at Freetown International Conference Center. Lastly, on Wednesday, May 8th, he received the new management team of the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited at State House in Freetown.
