Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met May 18 with Ghana President John Dramani Mahama for approximately 40 minutes, agreeing to two grant assistance projects.

The projects are the construction of an advanced research center for infectious diseases at Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research and the Human Resources Development Scholarship.

Afterward, the two leaders held a joint press conference and Abe and his wife hosted a dinner where a variety of topics related to the bilateral relations were discussed. Both parties agreed to the cooperation in international matters, including reforms made to the United Nations Security Council.
