CFL to present update on Ghana's high speed rail project

Officials from New York-based Chesterfield Faring Ltd. (CFL) will be at the CG-LA Infrastructure Conference, set for March 11 in Washington, D.C., to unveil an update on the high-speed rail project currently being developed in Ghana.

The project commenced in 2015 at the behest of Rashid Pelpuo of the ministry of Public Private Partnerships. After a feasibility study, CFL began construction of the high-speed railway, which will connect Ghana's capitol city of Accra to Kumasi.

The project will also include several terminals and transit oriented developments (TODs). Presently, plans are for two terminals in Accra and one in Kumasi. Bids will be taken in June for railway and TOD construction; funding will be secured through private capital markets, making the railway self-funded.

The advisory board for the project includes Katsuhiko Takahashi, urban town planner of Abu Dubai and master developer; Brad Perkins, chairman and founder of global urban planning firm Perkins Eastman; Robert Koen, partner at legal association Mayer Brown; Peter Linneman, CEO of Linneman Associates and former real estate finance professor at Wharton School; David Tendler, former chair and CEO at Phibro-Salomon Inc.; Blair Ashner, former senior vice presidents of finance for Equity International Properties, Inc.; Uri Shusterman, former chief economics and budget officer of the Israel Railways Corp.; Michael D. Lappin, former CEO of Community Preservation Corp.; Michael Kramer, land use specialist, development consultant and public advocate; Jeff Finn, former CEO of NAI Global; Johanna Daily, associate professor of medicine and microbiology and immunology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine; and Robert "Mike" Vaughn, retired U.S. pilot and current operator of technology systems company for physical infrastructure security.
