Contracts for three off-grid power plants won by Nocart Oy

Malawi and Nigeria will soon be receiving power plants from the environmentally conscious Nocart Oy, which won the contracts for the projects.

Two solar-diesel hybrid plants, a 2 mega-watt (MW) and a 4 MW will be delivered to Malawi and a 1 MW solar-sawdust plant will go to Nigeria.

The contracts total 12.9 million euros (MEUR) or approximately $14 million.

Nocart's green solutions provide renewable distributed energy to off-grid locations. The proprietary software controlled power management unit (PMU) controls the solar, wind or bio power created by the power plant. The PMU directs the production, storage and distribution of power. The power plants also provide storage for electricity production.

“We have been working in Africa for two years and have identified a project pipeline of 400 MEUR worth of high quality potential projects where we aim to participate during the next five years," Nocart CEO Vesa Korhonen said. "These three signed projects are our first megawatt class deals and we expect this rapid growth to continue over the coming years.”

Nocart is based in Finland. The company uses a variety of green solutions – biomass, geothermal, hydro, solar and wind – to produce and store power for on- and- off-grid solutions around the world.
