Gondama Barracks, Sierra Leone — On Saturday, 19 April 2025, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio inspected a newly constructed multi-purpose building at the 5th Infantry Brigade in Gondama, indicating his commitment to the welfare of military personnel. The building, constructed at a cost of Le3.4 billion old Leones, is exclusively sponsored by President Bio to boost the morale of the soldiers.
The inspection was accompanied by Brigadier General Alimamy Osman Kamara, the Brigade Commander, and Ibrahim Deen, the Chief Executive Officer of Unique Solutions Company Limited, who served as the contractor. This facility can host 300 individuals and includes features such as a hall, bar area, store, office spaces, and restrooms.
Addressing the brigade, President Bio recognized the military's dedication to national security and sovereignty. "Our nation owes you a great debt of gratitude," he stated. He also discussed military reforms, emphasizing infrastructure, housing, and capacity building.
President Bio also interacted with the Army Wives Cooperative Society, appreciating their initiatives in agriculture and fish farming, and promised further government support. "I am proud of what you are doing," Bio told the group. Plans to enhance their facilities, including a newly completed canteen, were highlighted.
During his visit, the President met with students and teachers at St. Augustine Services Primary School inside the barracks, urging them to leverage the Free Quality Education Programme. "Education is the greatest equalizer," he added, underscoring his government's commitment to education.
The visit concluded with expressions of gratitude from soldiers, spouses, and students.
