St. Michael, Barbados, March 12, 2025 – President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone addressed the Sustainable Energy for All Global Forum in Barbados, emphasizing energy's vital role in economic development. He stated that energy drives industrial growth, fuels innovation, empowers education, and enhances quality of life globally. Bio highlighted that small and medium-sized enterprises rely on stable and affordable electricity to thrive.
He noted that electrification brings dignity and security to families, particularly in rural areas suffering from energy poverty. President Bio reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to expanding energy access as a driver of sustainable development.
Barbados' Minister of Energy and Business Development, Lisa Cummins, praised African representatives' participation in the forum. She stressed international collaboration's importance in tackling energy poverty and called for increased support for women leaders in the energy sector.
Nigeria’s Minister of Energy and Power, Adebayo Adelabu, expressed gratitude to President Bio for his leadership. He urged African leaders to intensify efforts towards equitable energy distribution and emphasized sustainable solutions to bridge the continent's energy gap.
The forum provided a platform for discussions on innovative energy policies and strategies to promote universal energy access, reinforcing global commitments towards an inclusive and sustainable energy future.
