AGIB Bank inaugurates its first Islamic banking head branch in The Gambia

On February 21, 2025, President Adama Barrow delivered a statement at the inauguration of AGIB Bank's head branch in Kairaba Avenue. This event marks a significant milestone for AGIB Bank as it becomes the first Islamic bank in The Gambia, offering interest-free financial solutions and contributing to the country's economic diversity.

President Barrow expressed his pride in being part of this occasion, highlighting that it coincides with The Gambia's Diamond Jubilee Independence Day Anniversary celebrations. He emphasized the importance of unity and commitment to national development, stating, "This moment is not only a milestone for AGIB Bank but also an affirmation of the growing strength and vibrancy of our nation’s private sector."

The president acknowledged the efforts of Muhammed Jah, Founder and Chairman of QGroup and CEO of AGIB Bank. Praising Mr. Jah's vision and patriotism, President Barrow noted that within two decades, he has built a successful business empire under the QGroup trademark. "Mr. Jah has consistently demonstrated that with dedication and purpose, everything is possible," he said.

The presence of the Governor of the Central Bank was recognized by President Barrow as crucial for ensuring stability in The Gambia's financial sector. He reaffirmed his government's commitment to creating an environment conducive to business growth and innovation.

In closing remarks, President Barrow encouraged AGIB Bank's management and staff to continue striving for excellence.
