Minister Christine Scipio, responsible for Environment, Natural Resources and Planning, is set to participate in the "Climate Change Resilience" Community workshop. The event will take place in Brussels, Belgium, from February 25 to 28, 2025. Organized under the Green Overseas (GO) programme, this workshop aims to incorporate climate change resilience into policies of Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs). All expenses related to the workshop are covered by the GO programme.

The GO programme's objective is to enhance capacity and encourage cooperation among OCTs by focusing on crucial areas like climate finance, energy transition, and climate change resilience. Ramboll, ODI, and BRL ingénierie are implementing the Brussels workshop. It seeks to integrate climate change resilience into public policies and regulations of OCTs while supporting practical adaptation strategies.

Participants will engage in building a shared knowledge base on climate risks by exploring methods for understanding and assessing climate change impacts. They will also discuss overcoming institutional barriers with strategies aimed at promoting leadership and coordination in climate change adaptation.

A field visit is planned to the Flemish SIGMA plan and the Polders of Kruibeke to provide practical insights into flood management and resilience. Additionally, participants will learn about unlocking access to climate finance for resilience projects.
