Mrs. Massandjé Toure-Litse, the Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture of ECOWAS, participated in the statutory meetings of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) and West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ). These meetings took place from February 10 to 14, 2025, in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
During a meeting with the Committee of Governors of Central Banks, Mrs. Toure-Litse expressed ECOWAS Commission's readiness to coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders involved in implementing the ECOWAS monetary cooperation program.
At the WAMZ Convergence Council meeting, she emphasized the importance for Member States to enhance their efforts to harmonize regulatory frameworks, improve statistical data quality, and strengthen evaluation mechanisms.
She concluded by stating that "the ECOWAS Commission remains fully committed to working with regional institutions and Member States in the implementation of the ECOWAS Monetary Cooperation Programme."
In addition to attending these meetings, Mrs. Toure-Litse and her team, along with Mr. Harouna Moussa, ECOWAS Permanent Representative to Sierra Leone, visited ministers responsible for finance, trade, planning, and economic development in Sierra Leone.
