His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone recently welcomed Khaled Kaim, the Special Envoy and Senior Political Adviser to the President of Libya, at State House in Freetown. The meeting centered on enhancing bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Libya.
Khaled Kaim conveyed a special message of solidarity from Libya's president and reiterated Libya’s commitment to strengthening ties with Sierra Leone. He acknowledged President Bio's efforts in promoting Africa's status at the United Nations Security Council and emphasized the shared interests of both nations as members of the African Union’s Committee of Ten (C-10) and founding members of the African Union.
During their discussions, Kaim expressed appreciation for President Bio’s dedication to advancing Africa's collective interests. In response, President Bio affirmed the robust relationship between Sierra Leone and Libya, recognizing their longstanding partnership. He assured that his government remains committed to further enhancing diplomatic and economic cooperation with Libya.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Madam Francess Piagie Alghali, introduced Khaled Kaim and his delegation during their visit to State House.
On February 10th, 2025, President Bio departed Sierra Leone for Liberia accompanied by his wife, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio.
Earlier events at State House included an oath-taking ceremony presided over by President Bio for Madam Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh following her recent appointment. Additionally, on February 5th, 2025, President Bio received the 2023 Annual Report on the Right to Access Information.
