Sierra Leone is set to benefit from a $50 billion initiative aimed at electrifying 300 million Africans by 2030. This development follows President Julius Maada Bio's participation in the Africa Energy Summit held in Dar es Salaam. The inclusion of Sierra Leone in this initiative highlights the country's dedication to achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 and promoting sustainable, inclusive growth.

The Mission 300 initiative has recognized Sierra Leone for its progress in energy transformation under President Bio's leadership. The country has made strides with comprehensive energy sector reforms, plans to deploy 200 mini-grids as part of its Rural Electrification Drive, and the development of its Just Energy Transition and Green Growth Plan.

President Julius Maada Bio joined other Heads of State at the inaugural Mission 300 Summit at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on January 28, 2025.

Earlier on January 24, 2025, President Bio celebrated Annual Education Week with the people of Makeni at the University of Makeni.
