The Judges of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria visited the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ERCA) in Banjul on November 10, 2023. This visit was part of a workshop organized by the Juritrust Centre for Socio-Legal Research and Documentation, focusing on industrial relations for judges.

Led by Professor Adedeji Adekunle SAN, the judges aimed to discuss matters of mutual interest with ERCA. The Acting Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Koffi Nkuako, welcomed the visitors on behalf of ERCA's Executive Director. He expressed gratitude for their visit and introduced ERCA team members, including the Executive Director who joined via video conference.

Mr. Ibrima Tambajang, HR officer at ERCA, presented an overview of ERCA's activities. His presentation covered trade and competition within ECOWAS, implementation status of competition rules in member states, and details about ERCA's action plan and legal instruments. He also discussed the new ECOWAS Competition Information System and various advocacy initiatives.

The Executive Director addressed comments from the delegation and emphasized collaboration between judiciary bodies like theirs and ERCA to promote free trade while combating anti-competitive practices. He highlighted emerging trends in digital markets as areas needing attention from regional competition authorities.

Professor Adekunle thanked ERCA for their hospitality and informative session. He encouraged further collaboration between judges and ERCA to address issues across sectors such as law infringement in goods delivery services and labor-related matters.
