St Helena Government has issued an apology to the organisers of several local events, following an error in a recent job vacancy advertisement for the Head of Tourism position. The government expressed regret for the incorrect wording used in the advert concerning the Cape to St Helena Yacht Race, St Helena’s Day Celebrations, Festival of Lights, and Carnival.

The job description outlined responsibilities that include developing and managing or supporting established events through partnerships. This includes well-known local festivities such as the Cape to St Helena Yacht Race, St Helena’s Day, Festival of Lights, Carnival, and the Festival of Walking. It also mentioned developing additional products aligned with the Tourism Strategy.

St Helena Government recognised "the valuable contribution made by the organisers" and assured that there is a commitment to support these events with necessary resources like international promotion or logistics. They clarified that it was not their intention "to discredit the event organisers or their hard work."
