Liberia partners with China on new national clinical lab

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. initiated the construction of a new National Clinical Diagnostic and Treatment Laboratory near the EBK Military Barracks in Margibi County, Liberia. This development is part of a collaborative effort between the Liberian Government and the People’s Republic of China, with funding from the Chinese Government and implementation by China Aid Liberia.

The laboratory aims to enhance Liberia's healthcare system by improving diagnostic and treatment services. President Boakai expressed that this facility represents more than just infrastructure; it symbolizes progress towards accessible high-quality healthcare for all Liberians. “The construction of this laboratory is not just about building another physical structure; it is about building a future wherein every Liberian has access to high-quality healthcare services. This facility will serve as a beacon of hope and progress for our people,” he stated.

President Boakai thanked China for its support, highlighting the strong partnership between both nations. The lab will cater to military personnel and civilians alike, addressing public health challenges and improving emergency medical responses.

He acknowledged contributions from stakeholders like the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia in realizing this project. “This laboratory will not only serve our armed forces but will also be a critical resource for anyone in need,” he added.

The President emphasized that this initiative reflects the government's commitment to prioritizing citizens' health. “This is more than just a ceremony; it is a promise to the people of Liberia that their health stands at the top of our priority list. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more productive Liberia,” he assured.

As construction begins, expectations are set for a modern facility meeting global standards to improve life quality in Liberia. President Boakai urged unity among stakeholders to ensure successful completion, leaving a legacy for future generations.
