Hackathon winners share N77.5m at Zenith Tech Fair 4.0

The Zenith Tech Fair 4.0 concluded with a hackathon that awarded N77.5 million in cash prizes to participants. The event, held on November 21, 2024, at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, focused on themes such as embedded finance and cybersecurity.

The hackathon featured over 1,700 contestants, with ten finalists sharing the prize money. JumpnPass emerged as the overall winner with a grand prize of N25 million and a six-week mentorship program. CreditChek secured second place with N20 million, while Salad Africa took third place with N15 million. Other finalists received N2.5 million each.

Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank Plc, expressed gratitude to Dr Jim Ovia for initiating the Tech Fair five years ago. She emphasized the importance of innovation and technology in fostering business growth and creating employment opportunities for youth in Nigeria.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State highlighted the need for Nigerian businesses to adopt a global approach to remain competitive internationally. He assured attendees of government support for innovative solutions.

Participants described the fair as successful and it included presentations on technological innovations across various fields like AI and cybersecurity. A keynote address titled "Banking Transformation in a Digital World" was delivered by Robin Speculand.

Notable speakers included Jim Ovia; Vice President Kashim Shettima (represented by Dr Tope Fasua); Danilo McGarry; Jania Okwechime; Rupert Nicolay; Wole Odeyele; Ada Jabaru; Funke Opeke; Guy Futi; Dr Auwal Adam Sa’ad; Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi; and Engr Bisoye Coker-Odusote.

The fair also launched Zenith Bank's digital wallet EazyByZenith to support financial inclusion strategies.
