President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of Liberia dedicated the newly renovated Maternal Ward at the Pipeline Community Health Center in Paynesville. The renovation was led by First Lady Madam Kartumu Y. Boakai, focusing on enhancing maternal healthcare for the Pipeline community and nearby areas.
The project is part of the First Lady's efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure for underserved communities. Supported by the Government of Liberia, it transformed the facility into a modern ward equipped to provide quality care for expectant mothers.
During the ceremony, President Boakai praised the First Lady and her team for their dedication to this initiative. "Maternal health is the cornerstone of a healthy society," he stated. "By investing in facilities like these, we ensure that every woman has access to safe and quality care during pregnancy and childbirth. This is an investment in our nation’s future."
The health center had not seen significant upgrades since 2006 but now features advanced equipment and amenities tailored to community needs. The dedication included a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community members who celebrated the improved services.
First Lady Boakai reiterated her commitment to promoting initiatives that enhance Liberians' health and well-being. "Every mother deserves the dignity and safety of quality healthcare," she remarked. "This renovated ward is a testament to what we can achieve when we prioritize the needs of our communities."
The President and First Lady toured the upgraded facility, which now symbolizes hope and collaboration. The improved center aims to significantly boost maternal health outcomes in the region and serve as a model for future projects across Liberia.
