President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has expressed his sorrow following the unexpected death of Nimba County Senior Senator Prince Y. Johnson. The senator passed away on the morning of November 28, 2024.
In a condolence message to Mrs. Amira Boyidee Johnson, the senator's widow, and the people of Nimba County, President Boakai highlighted Senator Johnson's significant role in Liberia’s history and his contributions to national discussions as a member of the Senate.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Johnson family and the people of our industrious County of Nimba. Senator Prince Y. Johnson’s passing is a loss to his family, his constituents, and our nation,” President Boakai stated.
The president assured that the government would support honoring Senator Johnson’s memory and contributions.
“While we may not have always agreed on the path our nation pursued, we recognize the impact of his work and his dedication to representing the people of Nimba County in the Liberian Senate,” President Boakai remarked.
As Liberia reflects on Senator Johnson's legacy, President Boakai urged all citizens to respect this period of mourning and keep his family in their prayers.
The government will collaborate with Senator Johnson's family, Vice President, and Nimba residents to ensure he receives an appropriate farewell according to national traditions.
