His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has received a detailed report proposing a roadmap to resolve the longstanding land dispute in Sahn Malen Chiefdom. This conflict involves local landowners and Socfin Agricultural Company, stemming from the company's acquisition of the Sierra Leone Produce Marketing Board (SLPMB) plantation in 2010.

President Bio expressed gratitude to committee members for their commitment to finding a lasting solution. Honourable Shiaka Musa Sama, representing the affected people of Sahn-Malen, praised President Bio's timely intervention. He noted that between 2010 and 2018, there were numerous violent incidents, including mass arrests and property destruction. Hon. Sama emphasized that previous efforts had often ignored the landowners' voices and criticized Socfin Agricultural Company for not fulfilling its promises.

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh provided further details on the peace roadmap, which was developed under President Bio's guidance. Dr. Sengeh highlighted that the chiefdom's residents have shown their readiness for peace through active participation in dialogues and community engagements.

President Bio commended stakeholders for their dedication to peace and development in his address. He stressed that while development poses challenges, peace is essential for harmonious coexistence. The President called on Socfin Agricultural Company and Sahn Malen Chiefdom leaders to prioritize dialogue and collaboration over conflict.

He concluded by thanking committee members for their work on the roadmap and expressed hope for a successful resolution leading to peace and development in Sahn Malen Chiefdom.
