His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., led a gathering of government officials at the state funeral service for the late Honorable Sumo Galakpai Kupee. The event took place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sinkor, Monrovia, to honor the former Senior Senator of Lofa County.
Senator Kupee's passing has deeply affected Liberians, particularly in Lofa County, where he dedicated much of his life to community and national service.
President Boakai expressed condolences to Senator Kupee's family, acknowledging his widow specifically. "The late Senator Kupee was one of Liberia’s finest. It is unfortunate that we, as a people, have lost him at a time when his wisdom and leadership are needed the most," President Boakai stated.
Throughout his career, Senator Kupee served Liberia with distinction in various roles. President Boakai highlighted his dedication to education and support for students unable to afford tuition at the University of Liberia. His impact on young Liberians exemplified his compassionate leadership.
The President encouraged Liberians to honor Senator Kupee’s legacy by supporting those who serve the nation with distinction. He urged unity among Lofa County citizens during this time of grief and emphasized that Senator Kupee’s memory should inspire peace and collaboration within the community.
“Liberia has great prospects ahead. Our challenge is to prioritize our nation and give our utmost to advance it. Let us take this moment to come together for the betterment of our beloved country,” President Boakai urged.
He concluded by extending heartfelt sympathy from the Government to Mrs. Marian Sandi Kupee, friends, and colleagues of Senator Sumo Kupee, noting that his commitment and contributions will be remembered as a proud legacy for Liberia.
