In a recent gesture of empathy, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of Liberia visited the families of two deceased government officials. The visits took place over the weekend, as President Boakai offered his condolences to the bereaved families of Assistant Minister for Administration at the Internal Affairs Ministry, Brown B. Sarlee, and Grand Bassa County Superintendent Julia K. Bono.
On Sunday, November 10, 2024, President Boakai first traveled to Barnesville in Montserrado County to meet with the family of Mr. Sarlee. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Sarlee's widow, Mrs. Nora Saah-Sarlee, and other family members. "It is truly saddening to lose such a dedicated public servant when our nation needs his contributions the most," said President Boakai during his visit.
Mrs. Nora Saah-Sarlee conveyed her gratitude to President Boakai for his supportive words and presence, noting that they provided significant comfort to her family.
Following this visit, President Boakai proceeded to Buchanan in Grand Bassa County to offer similar condolences to Superintendent Bono's family after her passing due to illness. He was welcomed by prominent citizens who gathered in honor of Superintendent Bono's legacy.
Reflecting on her contributions, President Boakai stated: "The sacrifices made by dedicated leaders like Superintendent Bono are an inspiration to us all. We will remember her service and keep her in our prayers."
President Boakai concluded his visits with prayers for eternal peace for both officials and pledged support for their families and communities during this difficult time. He emphasized that the nation mourns alongside the Sarlee and Bono families and acknowledged their service.
Internal Affairs Minister Francis Sakilah Nyumalin accompanied President Boakai during these visits along with other government officials.
