President Joseph N. Boakai of Liberia has expressed a firm commitment to addressing the challenges in the nation's energy sector. During a recent round table discussion on March 21, 2024, he emphasized that providing affordable, reliable, and renewable energy is a top priority for his administration.
Boakai reaffirmed his dedication to completing key projects like the St. Paul 2 (SP2) Hydro Project and the Mount Coffee Extension. These initiatives, which began during his tenure as Vice President in 2016, are expected to adhere to international standards and remain free from political interference.
He urged international partners to contribute expertise and funding for these transformational projects, highlighting their potential impact on commerce, industry, communication, education, health, agriculture, and regional stability as outlined in the ARREST Agenda.
President Boakai reiterated his zero-tolerance policy on corruption and cronyism. He assured partners of his administration's integrity and promised regular updates through relevant ministries and agencies on project progress and challenges each quarter.
Boakai's commitments aim to transform Liberia's energy sector significantly, with hopes of improving the lives of millions of citizens.
