A delegation led by Governor Nigel Phillips, Chief Minister Julie Thomas, and Chief Secretary Susan O’Bey has arrived in Montserrat for a six-day official visit. The visit commenced on March 13, 2024, marking the first official overseas trip for Chief Minister Thomas to another Overseas Territory.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) facilitated the visit with an aim to enhance relations between Montserrat and St Helena. During their stay, the delegation will engage with local government officials including the Governor and Premier of Montserrat. These meetings are designed to explore challenges and opportunities faced by Montserrat and identify potential areas of collaboration with St Helena.

Additionally, the delegation's schedule includes participation in various cultural events intended to foster social connections between the two territories. Among these events are a flower show and tea party hosted by the Montserrat National Trust, a tour of the Montserrat Volcano Observatory and Plymouth Exclusion Zone, as well as attendance at the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade.

The delegation is expected to return to St Helena on March 23, 2024.
