The St Helena Government has announced the arrival of two education consultants from Hampshire Local Authority. The consultants will be on the island from November 9 to November 23, 2024, as part of an ongoing Education Review.

Their primary task is to conduct a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Review. This review aims to evaluate the current provisions for SEND learners and suggest areas for improvement. In addition, they will provide professional development sessions focused on phonics, inclusion, quality first teaching, and SEND.

This collaboration with Hampshire Local Authority builds on recent efforts by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The expertise of these professionals is expected to enhance education quality on the island and help meet Council of British International Schools (COBIS) standards.

The initiative highlights SHG's commitment to improving educational standards and ensuring optimal learning opportunities for all students.
