Experts from various ECOWAS bodies are gathering in Lomé, Togo, from October 28 to 31, 2024. The purpose of the meeting is to review the draft five-year strategic plan and communication strategy for the Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU) covering the period from 2025 to 2029.
Participants include representatives from the PPDU, ECOWAS Permanent Representation in Togo, Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalisation, Directorate of Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Directorate of Communication of the ECOWAS Commission0, among others. Also present are members from the ECOWAS National Unit in Togo, ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), ECOWAS Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (ARAA), CPCS consultancy firm, and IMCG consultancy firm.
The strategic business plan aims to position PPDU as a leading infrastructure project preparation unit on the continent over the next five years. It will serve as a framework aligning with ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the Regional Infrastructure Master Plan. The communication strategy seeks to highlight PPDU's achievements to enhance advocacy and resource mobilization efforts with partners.
Organized by PPDU itself, this meeting was inaugurated by Mr. Kebba Fye, Acting Director of PPDU. He represented Commissioner Sédiko Douka who oversees Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalisation at ECOWAS. The opening ceremony also featured H.E. Mr Barros Bacar Banjai, ECOWAS Resident Representative to Togo.
