ECOWAS President discusses cooperation with Cuban ambassador

The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Nigeria, H.E. Miriam Morales Palmero, on October 24, 2024. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.

Discussions centered on cooperation between ECOWAS and Cuba, particularly in health projects aimed at combating malaria at a regional level. This initiative involves collaboration with WAHO and the Venezuelan government.

Ambassador Palmero expressed Cuba's interest in furthering cooperation in education and agriculture. In response, Dr. Touray acknowledged Cuba's efforts in health projects with ECOWAS and welcomed potential partnerships in education and agriculture.

Dr. Touray reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining and enhancing the positive relations between ECOWAS and Cuba.
