Sierra Leone sends off new diplomats with focus on strengthening international relations

His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio bid farewell to four newly appointed ambassadors and a high commissioner at the State House in Freetown on October 8, 2024. The diplomats, having received parliamentary approval, were presented by Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The diplomats departing for their new roles include Dr. Julius F. Sandy as High Commissioner-designate to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Momodu Koroma as Ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Ibrahim Turay as Ambassador-designate to Senegal, Madam Fatmata Sawaneh as Deputy Ambassador-designate to Guinea, and Mr. Lusine Kallon as Deputy Ambassador-designate to Liberia.

Minister Kabba expressed his honor in presenting the diplomats following their parliamentary approval process. All the ambassadors and the high commissioner conveyed gratitude to President Bio for the opportunity to serve Sierra Leone abroad. They committed themselves "to represent Sierra Leone with humility and dedication," drawing inspiration from President Bio's leadership.

President Julius Maada Bio congratulated the diplomats on their appointments and commended their service both to the nation and the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). He emphasized the importance of building strong diplomatic ties with host countries while expressing confidence in their abilities. The President assured them of his full support during their missions and encouraged them "to deepen the existing bilateral ties between Sierra Leone and their respective countries."
