UN General Assembly session focuses on enhancing multilateralism

The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly will begin on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, with the Opening of the General Assembly Debate. Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio and Ireland’s Prime Minister Simon Harris co-chaired an interactive dialogue on “Enhancing Multilateralism for International Cooperation” in New York on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

President Bio remarked on the importance of multilateralism in addressing global challenges. "We must strengthen our commitment to working together," he stated during his address.

Prime Minister Harris echoed similar sentiments. "Collaboration is key to overcoming international issues," he said.

The event brought together leaders from various nations to discuss strategies for improving cooperation among countries. The dialogue aimed at fostering a more united approach to global problems such as climate change, security threats, and economic instability.

Both leaders emphasized that collective action and shared responsibility are essential for sustainable development and peace. They called upon member states to renew their dedication to multilateral frameworks and institutions.
