Liberian communities meet with President Boakai during ECOWAS session

In a demonstration of solidarity, the Organization of Liberian Communities in Nigeria (OLICON) paid a courtesy visit to President Boakai during his attendance at the 65th Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government in Abuja.

The delegation, led by OLICON President Mr. Garisson Thomas, expressed appreciation for President Boakai's leadership and efforts to foster unity among all Liberians. Mr. Thomas conveyed his organization's gratitude for the President's unwavering support in addressing challenges faced by Liberians in Nigeria. He also highlighted OLICON's contributions to the social, cultural, and economic well-being of Liberians in Nigeria and sought assistance with scholarships for Liberian students and employment opportunities for qualified individuals.

President Boakai thanked the delegation for their visit and assured them of his continued dedication to serving the interests of all Liberians, both domestically and abroad. He reiterated his commitment to promoting the welfare of Liberians living in the diaspora, including those in Nigeria. The President acknowledged OLICON's vital role in representing the interests of the Liberian community and fostering a sense of belonging among its members.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti and Liberia's Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh. According to Mr. Thomas, this courtesy visit underscored the importance of strong relationships between the Liberian government and its diaspora communities, marking a significant step toward building a more interconnected network for Liberians living in Nigeria.
