Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has received credentials from four newly accredited ambassadors and a high commissioner. The ceremony, held at the State House in Freetown on Thursday, 4 July 2024, underscored the government's ongoing commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

President Bio highlighted the achievements of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government during his tenure. He noted that these accomplishments set a foundation for enhanced cooperation with international partners.

"Receiving these credentials marks an important step in our diplomatic engagements," President Bio stated. "We look forward to working closely with these nations to foster mutual development."

Among other official duties this week, President Bio presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Edmond Nonie as Deputy Minister of Energy II. This event took place at the State House in Freetown.

In addition, President Bio assented to the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2024 at the Freetown International Conference Center in Aberdeen on Tuesday, 2 July 2024. The new law aims to eliminate child marriage practices within Sierra Leone.

The recent activities reflect the administration's focus on both internal governance and external diplomatic relations.
