African-European partnership calls for sustainable energy resources

The Second Stakeholder Forum of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) recently issued a call to action to guarantee the delivery of sustainable energy for Africa post-COP21. 

The Italian government, the African Union Commission and the European Union Commission organized the event with the support from the AEEP secretariat to focus on the progression of renewable energy innovation, investment and Africa and Europe cooperation according to the theme laid out by Business and Science: Leading the Way to Sustainable Energy.

The forum was held on May 16-17 in Milan, Italy. In attendance were more than 500 participants who included policy-makers and representatives from regional institutions, international organizations, the banking and finance industry, the private sector, academia, civil society and the media.

The event featured discussions on developing partnerships for on-the-ground implementation and manipulating the policy on energy to provide an enabling framework for stakeholders to contribute to the fast development of sustainable energy in Africa based.
