The
U.S. Agency for International Development
held a training for Ghanian entrepreneurs Thursday in Washington, D.C. to facilitate connections between business people.
The networking event was designed to connect entrepreneurs with investors, government officials and fellow entrepreneurs who could help develop the entrepreneurial economy in Ghana.
"Nurturing a supportive entrepreneurship ecosystem is critical for
innovation, creativity, and imagination to thrive and persist,"
U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Robert Jackson said.
"Therefore, it is important that we fully grasp what hinders and what
enhances entrepreneurship in various environments and contexts. This will help accelerate change and
create the much-needed jobs that — among other benefits — will address youth
unemployment.”
The template for the event was based on the Global Entrepreneurial Summit, an annual event organized by the Obama administration to connect entrepreneurs and investors from around the U.S. This year's event will be held at Stanford University June 22-24.
