The New Partnership for Africa's Development hosted a meeting with the African Union, regional economic communities, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Development Bank Monday.
The meeting, called "Towards Achieving the Agenda 2063," was attended by various financial and economic experts, with attendees discussing the ways African countries could grow and improve as well as how their organizations could help further this goal.
AUC Deputy Chair Erastus Mwencha spoke on the regional economic communities and their importance in the overall growth and development of the continent. He also praised the hosting country for its efforts.
Harry Kalaba, Zambia's minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke of the importance of regional integration and its role fulfilling the agenda.
Dr. Carlos Lopes, along with the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa, spoke about ways African countries could benefit from the better use of resources.
Moono Mupotola from the African Development Bank discussed the role of funds in the agenda's projects and the future relationship with regional economic communities.
Finally, Ambassador Nagla El-Hussainy explained that the meeting was a chance for the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa to rededicate itself to the goals of Agenda 2063.
