Asante secures temporary-mining permit for Kubi Gold site in Ghana

Asante Gold Corp. said recently that it has secured a Temporary Mining Exploration Operating Permit for its Kubi Gold project in Ghana.

With the permit, construction of the mine's portal and exploration decline can begin. The Kubi Main Deposit will be a 4-meter-by-4.5-meter exploration decline at a -15 percent grade. Exploration will take place on three levels of the mine: at 60 meters, 120 meters and 180 meters. From these levels, bulk samples will be extracted for test milling.

Preliminary design at the mine has been conducted by Mining and Building Contractors Limited in Obuasi; company representatives will now move on to mining and surface-infrastructure activities.

The total development depth of the mine will be about 2,100 meters and will include mucking bays, safety bays, parking bays, electrical cubbies and drill stations.

Infrastructure projects and improvements at the mine site will include upgrades to the access road, fencing around the perimeter, diesel-generated power, offices and a change house with a lamp room, water and waste management.
