The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) recently honored the Nigerian branch of the Shell Petroleum Development Co. (SPDC) with its 2015 Local Content Operator of the Year Award.
“The award is a strong endorsement for the many successful interventions we have made in the Nigerian content space and an impetus for us to continue to grow indigenous capacity for the industry,” Simbi Wabote, SPDC’s general manager of business and government relations, said.
The award was presented by Denzil Kentebe, executive secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board.
SPDC officials cited Nigeria's domestication of original equipment, contractor funding programs, and PETAN partnerships on various programs and projects as major achievements in 2015.
At the same awards ceremony, Mutiu Sunmonu was announced as the winner of PETAN's Chairman's Award. Sunmonu is the former managing director of SPDC and country chairman for Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN).
PETAN Chairman Emeka Ene congratulated all of the award winners and said 2015 was “a year of celebrating the industry and those who helped to move it forward.”
